Collingwood fans will suffer a nervous wait as the son-of-a-gun Nick Daicos will be put through his paces to get up for Sunday's clash with North Melbourne.
Daicos was subbed out of the win against Melbourne after copping two separate knocks to both sides of his right shin.
The 21-year-old "has since responded well and has started some jumping in the pool and on the gymnastics floor," says Pies Head of High-Performance Jarrod Wade.
"He is expected to complete some training at the back end of the week which will determine his availability for Sunday's game."
However, a quartet of stars are eyeing off a return post-bye, with premiership players Scott Pendlebury, Jordan De Goey and Brody Mihocek in the frame to face Gold Coast.
Jamie Elliot, Mason Cox and Tom Mitchell are progressing well but will need the majority of the home-and-away season to get fit while forward Dan McStay is close to integrating into full training following his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury earlier this year.
