Geelong's AFLW coaching group has been finalised as former Collingwood premiership player Nathan Brown has joined the ranks as a midfield coach.
Brown was a pivotal part in the Pies' success in the late 2000s and early 2010s, playing 183 games in the black and white. He moved to St Kilda from 2017 and added a further 53 matches before handing up the boots at the end of 2020.
Since his retirement, the key defender has engaged in coaching and player development, resulting in taking on a role at Geelong College, overseeing both men's and women's football programs as the Director of Football and Performance Pathways.
Brown will work alongside returning assistant coaches Andrew Bruce (forwards) and Elise Coventry (defence), with Dan Lowther entering his fifth season as Senior Coach.
Current Cats player Tom Atkins has also joined the coaching group as a development mentor.
Atkins has played 143 games for Geelong since being taken in the 2019 Rookie Draft as a mature-age prospect.
He was an integral part of the club's 2022 premiership triumph and has won Geelong's Best Clubman award on two (2022, 2023) occasions.
Geelong Cats Head of AFLW Dominique Condo welcomed the addition of the premiership stars.
"Led by Dan, we're really pleased to welcome Nathan and Tom to our program, and we are excited to see them work alongside Elise, Andrew, David and our wider football program in 2025," Condo said.
"Nathan joins us with wonderful coaching experience, and his football CV speaks for itself. He has built great coaching knowledge through his time at Geelong College, leading their football and pathways program, and we can't wait to see the influence he can have on our group in 2025."
Geelong will open the upcoming season with a mouth-watering clash against reigning premiers North Melbourne at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday, August 16.
