Collingwood has confirmed that Mason Cox and Tom Mitchell will not be at the club next year.

In an emotional social media post, Cox said that he "will not be wearing black and white anymore".

The American Pie joined the club ahead of the 2015 season following a US International combine in Los Angeles.

Clubs like North Melbourne, Port Adelaide, Richmond, and Fremantle were all impressed with the basketballer, but ultimately chose the Victorian powerhouse as his Australian home.

"It's hard to put into words what this club has meant to me," he wrote on Instagram.

"From a kid who came over from the U.S. with no idea what AFL even was to hearing the 'U-S-A' chant echo through 100,000 at the ‘G', it's been an unbelievable journey.

"To my teammates, coaches, staff, and especially the Collingwood fans, thank you to those that believed in me and welcomed me in.

"My chapter at Collingwood is closing, but the memories, friendships, and lessons will stay with me forever."

He debuted on Anzac Day against Essendon in 2016, and has since added 139 games and kicked 127 goals, including the 2023 premiership triumph.

His coming-of-age moment was in a preliminary final against rivals Richmond, ending the reigning premiers' season with a monster performance, noted by three consecutive goals in the second term.

Mitchell departs the club after three seasons in the black and white.

The midfielder played 36 games at Collingwood, and was pivotal to their flag triumph in 2023.

However, injuries have curtailed his availability, adding 10 matches in the past two years.

Mitchell previously spent time at Sydney (2013-2016) and Hawthorn (2017-2022), where he 171 games and won the 2018 Brownlow Medal.

"We thank Tom and Mason for their contribution to the Club. They are Premiership players who has left a significant mark on the Collingwood Football Club," General Manager of List and Talent Strategy Justin Leppitsch said.

"Tom joined us with already a wealth of experience and has been a great asset for our side and Club. Unfortunately, his injuries in season 2024 found him mostly out of the side for season 2025, despite still playing some great football.

"Still, his experience, knowledge, leadership and support for his fellow teammates will always be appreciated.

"Mason, who moved to the other side of the world to pursue a sport he had never played before, worked incredibly hard to learn the unique skills of Australian Rules. His dedication and commitment to Collingwood are a credit to the person he is.

"We understand that Mason and Tom are keen to explore AFL opportunities elsewhere. We wish them all the best for their future endeavours and hope another opportunity arises to continue their AFL careers."

The club is yet to confirm decisions made on the futures of Lachie Sullivan and Noah Howes.
