Collingwood defender Tom Langdon is set to announce his retirement from the game after 89 matches with the Magpies, per The Age's Michael Gleeson.
The 26-year-old has faced a long battle with knee injuries and is believed to have called time on his career.
It is understood that Collingwood will make an official announcement later today and Langdon will be delisted as a retirement for the purposes of list lodgement.
“Tom played some wonderful football for Collingwood and it was a sad day when the reality of his premature retirement arrived,” Collingwood GM of Football Geoff Walsh said.
“We saw him work incredibly hard to get back. He pushed himself through so much pain to keep his hopes of a comeback flickering. Given his talent and application, his finish is a cruel football story.
“We’re all confident that Tom will make a success of the next phase of his life and we wish him well.”
