Collingwood development lead Josh Fraser has left the Magpies in favour of an assistant coaching gig with Carlton.

Fraser, once a 200-game ruckman for Collingwood, returned to the club in 2023 following stints with Gold Coast's reserves, Carlton's VFL affiliate side the Northern Blues, and subsequently the Northern Bullants.

The 43-year-old took on the VFL coaching role for the Magpies in his return prior to stepping into the role of head of development, handing the state league coaching reins to Andy Otten.

"Josh has an incredibly close connection to the Club, as a past player and a coach. He is highly respected at our Club, and we are grateful for the significant impact he has made to the Club since he returned to coach in 2023," Magpies football boss Charlie Gardiner said in a club statement.

"Josh has been a fantastic mentor to our younger players and an important member of our coaching department. His care, work ethic and dedication to his role have been an asset to our AFL program.

"We thank Josh and his family for their contribution to Collingwood and wish him all the best for the future."

Simultaneously announcing the appointment of Fraser to an assistant coaching role, Carlton have landed their first coaching addition following an array of changes to Michael Voss' support team.

Fraser's arrival comes after the Blues bid farewell to assistants Luke Power, Aaron Hamill, Aaron Greaves and Tom Lonergan since the end of the 2025 season.

Carlton have also appointed Chris Davies as their football boss following his long stint with Port Adelaide.

The Blues are set to finalise their 2026 coaching group in the coming weeks.

Collingwood have revealed that development coach Neville Jetta has stepped into the role of NGA First Nations and Multicultural Lead, while Scott Selwood has stepped away from his duties for other opportunities.
