Collingwood is reportedly "all over" Gold Coast spearhead Ben King, whose contract is set to expire at the end of 2026.

King has long been linked with a return to Victoria after being drafted with Pick 6 by the Suns in the Superdraft of 2018.

The 24-year-old penned a two-year extension ahead of last year's campaign, which takes him to free agency status.

The Pies have yearned for a dominant key forward since Travis Cloke departed the club in 2016, with Brody Mihocek (32) playing a significant role over the past seven seasons.

Experienced players Dan McStay (injury prone) and Tim Membrey (31) have joined Collingwood in a bid to bolster their front half, while Mason Cox's age (34) won't include him in future planning, hence the heavy interest in King.

"Traditionally, he's done his deals over summer or at the start of a season, so he hasn't waited too long into his contract year to get that done," AFL Media's Cal Twomey said on Gettable.

"I think that probably changes next year to use the free agency leverage. Collingwood will be all over him. I keep saying it, but they will be."

The Suns gun currently leads the Coleman medal with 29 goals from nine games, as the Queensland club has one game spare due to the Opening Round clash with Essendon postponed to Round 24.

The pitch from the Pies to King is pretty simple, given they hold arguably the best player in the competition: Nick Daicos.

The father-son star is joined by the likes of his brother, Josh, Isaac Quaynor, Harry Perryman, Dan Houston, Lachie Schultz, Darcy Moore, Jordan De Goey, Brayden Maynard, Bobby Hill and Patrick Lipinski as the club's core.
