Geelong youngster James Parsons will be sidelined for around two months after breaking his foot last week.
Parson, selected at No.27 in the 2015 rookie draft, broke the fifth metatarsal in his foot after landing awkwardly at training.
He subsequently underwent surgery and will miss the beginning of the regular season.
“After starting the year so well, James unfortunately lost his footing while in country Victoria over the weekend,” Hocking said.
“While it’s a setback, all James now has to do is focus on his recovery and rehab process in order to take part in the beginning of the VFL season.”
Parsons was one of the Cats' best youngsters at VFL level last season and had been eyeing a senior debut in the JLT Community Series after a promising pre-season.
