Brisbane coach Chris Fagan has cast doubt over defender Keidean Coleman's availability for Saturday's top-four battle with Hawthorn, flagging "general soreness" following his return to AFL football.

Coleman made his way back into the senior side after spending the past 16 months on the sidelines after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament ACL in the 2024 Opening Round clash against Carlton.

The 25-year-old faced multiple setbacks during his recovery, as multiple "swelling episodes" and corrective surgeries were needed to put him back on the rehab path.

Coleman played two games in the VFL earlier this month before Fagan recalled him for the Melbourne clash.

"He's pulled up very sore, unfortunately," Fagan said on SEN.

"I'm not sure that he's going to get through to the weekend. It's just general soreness. But we'll see how he goes today at training.

"Obviously, he spent a lot of time out... 16 months, or thereabouts, and his knee was a bit problematic. Different swelling episodes during that time. He had a couple of little surgeries to fix things."

Coleman had picked up where he left off as a damaging half-back with elite ball use, collecting 19 touches, four marks and eight rebound 50s.

He was initially set to play as the sub, but ruckman Oscar McInerney was managed with a shoulder issue, with Coleman put in the starting 22.

The Lions are hopeful that midfielder Jarrod Berry will put his hand up for selection after missing with concussion.
