Brisbane are yet to put a line through midfield pair Lachie Neale and Jarrod Berry for Saturday's AFL Grand Final against Geelong.

Neale's timeline for a recent calf injury initially saw the two-time Brownlow Medal winner's season brought to an abrupt conclusion, only for the Lions co-captain to work through a rigorous rehabilitation program that has placed him in the mix to play in the season decider.

The 32-year-old sustained the calf strain in his side's opening final against Geelong, and has missed the September wins over Gold Coast and Collingwood, tallying five missed games since Round 21.

Neale has been listed as a test for this weekend's blockbuster affair, with upcoming training sessions set to decide his selection status.

Berry, who sustained a shoulder injury last week in the win over Collingwood, is also listed as a test for the 2025 AFL Grand Final.

In an update on Tuesday, the Lions declared both Neale and Berry face critical sessions on Thursday ahead of selection.

"Brisbane Lions Co-Captain Lachie Neale and midfielder Jarrod Berry will continue to push their case for selection ahead of Saturday's Grand Final with Geelong," a club update read.

"The premiership pair both took the training track on Tuesday and completed their respective sessions.

"Neale (calf) and Berry (shoulder) will again train on Thursday, where a final decision will be made on their selection."

If both Neale and Berry are ruled out of the grand final, one of the fringe midfield pair, James Tunstill or Deven Robertson, will be best positioned to come into Chris Fagan's lineup.
