Brisbane have played down any concern surrounding star midfielder Josh Dunkley, who will play in the Grand Final against Geelong off the back of a limited week on the training track.
Dunkley didn't train fully in the Lions' sessions on Tuesday or Thursday as part of his recovery from the club's preliminary final and preparation for Saturday's decider.
The lighter week on the track isn't new for Dunkley, whose contest-heavy game style often requires a longer recovery than most.
Questioned on Dunkley's preparation for the Grand Final, Lions coach Chris Fagan didn't stray from his confidence in the ex-Bulldog's fitness.
"He had a lighter day on Tuesday, but that's pretty normal for him," Fagan said at Friday's press conference.
"He throws his body around in games, and often he's not quite right by Tuesday.
"He did most of the session yesterday and will play tomorrow."
Dunkley will hold an integral role in Fagan's engine room ensemble against Geelong, with co-captain Lachie Neale coming into the game following a calf injury and All-Australian Hugh McCluggage likely facing a tag from Cats speedster Oisin Mullin.
The build of Brisbane's midfield has also lost outside runner Jarrod Berry to a shoulder injury, with Neale coming into the team in his place.
While Berry pushed to prove his fitness at training this week, the potential for a third shoulder setback in a month was too much for the Lions to risk.
"'Bez' wanted to try (and play), he's a competitor," Fagan said.
"There was part of him that didn't want to let his teammates down by not playing, and there was part of him that didn't want to let his teammates down by playing and the shoulder popping out.
"In the end, he arrived at that decision himself. As hard as that is, that's common sense. His shoulder has popped out two times in three or four games, and it'll be looser the second time around."
Geelong too were forced into a selection change for the Grand Final, with defender Tom Stewart (concussion) making way for ruckman Rhys Stanley, who returns from a recent hamstring injury.
