Brisbane coach Chris Fagan isn't pleased with his side's defensive output over the past three weeks despite only yielding one loss.
To open season 2025, the Lions didn't concede above 82 points for the first three weeks. Since then, opposition clubs have reached 90 points or more, including Collingwood's 52-point rout at the Gabba on Easter Thursday, hitting the ton.
The Brisbane coach said there are a "lot of elements" to why the Queensland club is conceding high scores, but largely due to "attitude or energy".
"The last three weeks, we've been poor defensively," Fagan said on Thursday.
"Team defence has been a huge focus this week. It is the first thing that drops away when either attitude or energy is not right. I've seen a trend.
"There's a lot of elements to it. It's at the source. What happens when the opposition wins the ball, and how hard we're working to locate opponents."
Against the Pies, the Lions conceded nine goals from turnovers as well as six goals from stoppage in the one-sided affair.
The week prior at Gather Round, the Western Bulldogs yielded a similar result, although due to the extraordinary comeback, they were unable to walk away with the win.
"No, I don't think it's attitude," Fagan said.
"It's something we're monitoring. It's one of those things that you need to give your group a reminder every now and then. Every team goes through it, and I think we're going through it."
Fagan also touched on a cohort of injured players and returning stars, which will excite Lions fans.
Crafty forward Kai Lohmann is expected to be named to take on St Kilda after dealing with a lingering ankle issue, pending he gets through training on Thursday.
Rebound defender Keidean Coleman is hopeful to feature in the VFL next weekend after 14 months away from the game due to an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) issue he sustained in Opening Round of 2024.
And unsighted recruit Tom Doedee is building up from his ACL injury in the VFL, but may need a couple more weeks to be AFL-ready.
Doedee crossed from Adelaide ahead of the 2024 campaign with an existing knee injury, but ahead of making his Lions debut, unfortunately went down again, ruling him out for the past 12 months.
"He's going okay," Fagan said of Doedee.
"I had a conversation with him the other day about when does he want to be available for selection at AFL level. He's not at that point yet.
"We have to understand he's been two years out of the game, and he's trying to build his confidence back in his body.
"He's getting better every time he goes out there. Once he gets some continuity, he'll come and tell me when he'll put his hand up for selection."
