Michael Voss is hopeful the worst fears for forward Francis Evans will be quashed after the 23-year-old suffered a brutal knock in the Blues' eight-point thrilling win over Melbourne on Saturday night.
Evans was left with a bloodied nose and a concussion after a high bump from Demons defender Steven May as the pair hunted an uncontested ball inside 50 during the third quarter. Voss spoke with Evans after the game and said the Blues recruit was in good spirits, hopeful that he had not sustained a broken nose.
"I spoke to [Evans] on the way out, he actually seems quite okay," Voss said.
"He's disappointed because he was playing a fantastic game of footy and was doing an unbelievable role for us. Speaking to him as I walked out there, other than being a little banged up on the nose, he was actually pretty good.
"I don't think [there's a break], but it didn't look great, in terms of how he looks. We'll wait and see and get it scanned if we need to know and they'll look after it."

Tom De Koning also came up looking sore in the second half, clutching at his arm. However, he was able to see out the game and Voss believed there was nothing major of concern.
"De Koning described it as a stinger to me, so that's what it was."
Carlton will be hopeful De Koning recovers well as the Blues face a five-day turnaround, taking on the Hawks next Thursday night at the MCG.
