1. GWS (-)

Despite being outplayed for most of the game of Saturday afternoon, the Giants stood up when it mattered, as Jeremy Cameron kicked the winner with under one minute to go in the contest.

2. Adelaide (-)

A slow start didn't hamper the Crows, as Adelaide kicked 18 goals to four after quarter time to blast Brisbane away. After a couple of poor losses, Don Pyke's men are back in business.

3. Western Bulldogs (+1)

Normally one win in four would be enough to see any side tumble down the rankings, but the Dogs' tough schedule and long injury list has seen them stick inside the top four. Once the injuries dry up, they should be looking at a run for the double chance.

4. West Coast (-1)

Another bad loss for the Eagles in Melbourne, but it's not all bad for West Coast, who only need to play in Victoria three more times before the finals. Home matches and soft away trips loom, as their 6-3 start has set them up well for a top four finish.

5. Port Adelaide (-)

The Power had a bye after their big win in China last weekend.

6. Geelong (+1)

After three losses in a row, Geelong secured a much needed win over the Bulldogs on Friday night, in the first of three massive clashes at Simonds Stadium (they host Port Adelaide and Adelaide over the next fortnight). Two wins from those two fixtures and the Cats will be in the box seat for the double chance.

7. St Kilda (-1)

St Kilda had the chance to impress when they hosted Sydney on Saturday, but the Swans kept the Saints at arms length for most of the contest. A massive test of the Saints' resolve looms on Saturday, as they face the Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium.

8. Fremantle (-)

The Dockers are flying under the radar. Six wins from their past seven has seen them jump from the bottom of the table into fifth, and has made Ross Lyon's changing of the guard ahead of their round three clash with the Dogs look like a masterstroke. They're banking all these wins early, so they may just hang around the eight until things get interesting later on this year.

9. Richmond (-)

Three losses in a row by under a kick has seen the Tigers slip down to seventh on the ladder, as Richmond would have been inside the top four had just one of those results gone the other way. While there is cause for concern down at Tigerland, on the whole, they've looked like a good side over the first nine rounds.

10. Essendon (+1)

It was a big chance for Essendon to show what they were made of, and the Bombers delivered in style, with a huge win over the Eagles. Zach Merrett led a brilliant performance, while Joe Daniher had another day out in front of goals, booting five straight.

11. Sydney (+4)

Three wins in a row would suggest the Swans are back. They've turned their season around in a big way, and being just two games out of the eight with a 3-6 record helps too. A mixture of the old (Josh Kennedy, Dan Hennebery) and new (Jake Lloyd, Nic Newman) led Sydney in their 50-point win, which would suggest the balance is just right.

12. Melbourne (-2)

Melbourne are quickly becoming one of the more frustrating and inconsistent teams in the competition. The Demons should have taken care of North Melbourne at the MCG, but once again failed to put away a lesser opponent. It's already becoming a season of what-ifs.

13. North Melbourne (-1)

They're only 3-6 after nine games, but North fans would have to be pretty pleased with the football they seen so far this season. Another good performance this time resulted in a win, with Ben Brown leading the charge with five majors.

14. Carlton (-1)

Carlton led by two points at half-time but only managed two goals after the main break, as they were overrun by the Dockers at Domain Stadium.

15. Collingwood (+2)

Normally inconsistent over the space of two weeks, the Pies this time condensed their problems into one match, and turned a 43-point first half deficit into an 18-point win. Brisbane at the MCG next Sunday presents a big chance for the Pies to go back-to-back in the search for some momentum.

16. Gold Coast (-)

The Suns enjoyed a bye after a long flight home following a big loss to the Power in China.

17. Hawthorn (-3)

After kicking eight of the first nine goals, Hawthorn just couldn't see the game out, and eventually went down to Collingwood on Saturday night. Tom Mitchell's 50 touches will be overshadowed by the result, and the Hawks missed a big chance to close the game between themselves and the eight.

18. Brisbane (-)

The Lions hung with the Crows for just over a quarter, which is probably longer than most people would have expected. Now two games clear in last position, it would have to take something special for Brisbane to not finish last this season.
