St Kilda midfielder Hunter Clark has been sanctioned by the Match Review Officer for an incident on Thursday night - but not for the reason many expected.
Clark faced backlash for a dangerous tackle on Western Bulldogs midfielder Matthew Kennedy in the opening minutes of the Marvel Stadium encounter, swinging the Bulldog 360 degrees before pulling the 28-year-old towards the turf, with Kennedy hitting his head on the deck.
Kennedy was awarded a free kick for the dangerous tackle, and while the incident was disputed for potential MRO scrutiny, the act has been given the all clear, with Clark not reprimanded for the incident.
However, Clark can accept a hefty $5,000 fine, reduced to $3,125 with an early plea, due to his fourth offence of making careless contact with an umpire.
Similarly, Jack Macrae can accept the same sanction for his third offence of the kind, making careless contact with a match official in the fourth term of St Kilda's 72-point defeat.
Bulldogs star Ed Richards can also accept a fine to the tune of $3,000 following a tripping act on Jack Steele in the first quarter.
The trip, graded intentional conduct, low impact and body contact, can be reduced to $2,000 with a guilty plea.
Zak Jones has also been fined for an off-the-ball bump into James O'Donnell, which left the Bulldogs defender winded.

The rough conduct offence can see Jones accept a $3,000 sanction reduced to $2,000 with an early plea, as the MRO graded the act as intentional conduct, low impact, and body contact.
