Richmond ruckman Toby Nankervis has avoided any sanction for his collision with an umpire following a centre bounce.

Amid the intense focus on careless contact with umpires, the Match Review Officer (MRO) has decided that the contact was an accident, requiring no further explanation, and chalked it up to a football mishap.

West Coast's Liam Baker copped a $3,000 fine ($2,000 guilty plea) for his rough conduct charge on Melbourne captain Max Gawn.

Although Baker won't miss games, the MRO graded the reportable offence as intentional conduct, low impact and body contact.

In the same game, Gawn's teammate Christian Salem will pay up $1,500 ($1,000 guilty plea) for tripping Eagles youngster Tom Gross.

Brisbane champion Lachie Neale was penalised for tripping Collingwood's Bobby Hill during the blockbuster clash on Saturday night at the MCG.

Neale will pay a $1,500 fine ($1,000 guilty plea).

Essendon's Oskar Smartt will hand over the same fee as the Lions star for careless contact with an umpire.

Earlier in the round, Jai Newcombe was also fined $1,500 ($1,000 guilty plea) for careless contact with an umpire. At the same time, his teammate Jack Ginnivan was penalised for his obscene gesture (flipping the bird) at the Adelaide crowd.
