Richmond's Tom Lynch is likely to be offered a suspension for his strike on Adelaide defender Jordon Butts during Sunday's clash at the MCG.

In a frustrating afternoon, Lynch lashed out at his direct opponent during the second quarter, swinging his arm towards the back of Butts' head after a marking contest.

The former Sun hadn't disposed of the ball in the first half of the match, as well as given away five free kicks.

Fortunately, the Tigers key forward hasn't caused any severe injury with his actions, but the MRO's grading will likely depend on the potential to cause injury.

The adjudicating umpire reported Lynch for striking.

Richmond trailed by 41 points at half-time.

Lynch could also be fined for an errant boot that caught that face of Crows tall Josh Worrell in the first term.

More to come.
