AFL boss Andrew Dillon has confirmed that the 2025 AFL Grand Final will begin at the traditional timeslot of 2:30pm (AEST).
Amid ongoing deliberation surrounding the societal push to bounce the ball at a twilight or evening timeslot, Dillon, and the AFL Commission, acknowledged the "great presentation" of the suggested times, yet instead ratified the 2.30pm start.
During the two COVID-19-impacted seasons, the league was given a glimpse of what twilight or evening grand final fixtures would look like.
Richmond claimed their third flag in four years in 2020 at the Gabba against Geelong when the decider was played at night.
The following season, Melbourne broke the premiership drought against the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium as the sun was setting.
"The Toyota AFL Grand Final is our competition's best moment, there is nothing like the roar that goes around the MCG when the ball is bounced to start the biggest game of the season," Dillon said.
"We will continue to work closely with our broadcast partner, the Seven Network, to create the most amazing sporting event in the country, both in the build-up during the week and on the last Saturday in September."
