Eastern Ranges defender Oskar Taylor has emerged as a potential first-round draft selection off the back of an eye-catching run in the Coates Talent League.

Taylor has soared from a role-playing, unheralded Eastern Ranges halfback to a draft bolter that looks increasingly to have his name read out on the first night of the 2025 AFL Draft.

Taylor's kicking is his big weapon, and he's been the Ranges' preferred distributor coming out of the backline.

His left foot sizzles the Sherrin with incisive precision, but critically, he accompanies his beautiful kicking with great defensive accountability, consistently proving to be a difficult player to beat both in the air and at ground level in one-on-one contests.

He has the athleticism not to get burnt on the lead or outstepped and reads the play well to cut the angles and back himself to get intercept possessions, then has the composure to find space and use his most prized weapon.

Taylor looms as an X-factor player for a club seeking a balanced halfback point-of-difference once Josh Lindsay is off the board.
