Others in the mix
There are plenty of players knocking on the door. Carlton father-son Harry Dean's stocks continue to rise and he wouldn't look out of place on the list as a marking defender.
South Australian wingers Harley Barker and Matt LeRay are both athletic, dangerous-kicking hard workers, while fellow Croweater Mitch Marsh's stocks continued soaring with a four-goal game for SA on Sunday.
There is plenty to like about Bendigo utility Hunter Wright, Richmond father-son midfielder Louis Kellaway, Gold Coast Academy midfielder Koby Coulson, interceptor Xavier Taylor and Essendon NGA duo Adam Sweid and Hussien El Achkar, who were all considered.
4. 10th-6th
10 - Dyson Sharp
Central District, midfielder
Has had the month he needed to have after some queries emerged following a lean start to the season – by his high standards. Was SA U18s best afield in its clash with SA U20s, stood out in an SA trial game against New South Wales and was a critical piece of SA's on-ball brigade in its first game of the U18s National Championships. His brute work at stoppage and ability to release teammates into space is as good as anyone's. How highly clubs value that contest dominance will be decisive in how high he ends up going.
9 - Max King
Sydney Swans Academy, forward/midfielder
King is yet to have the standout match in 2025 everyone knows he is capable of, but continues showing enough to impress and prove why he's held in such esteem. Playing mostly in the forward line, he averaged 14 disposals and four marks, which belies the potency it felt like he had for the Sydney Academy. His athleticism and combination of aerial dominance and ground level dynamism keeps him around the mark for clubs looking for a big body who can also rotate through the midfield.
8 - Sam Grlj
Oakleigh Chargers, midfielder
The steep riser of early 2025, some recruiters have him well ensconced inside the top 10 given the traits he showed early in the Coates League season. He plays school footy in the AGSV competition, which is viewed as an inferior standard to the APS competition most Victorians prospects are currently competing in, so it's hard to get a gauge on his form entering the U18s National Championships. Has elite pace and kills teams with his burst from contest and creativity.
7 - Zeke Uwland
Gold Coast Academy, utility
Injury looks set to rule Uwland out for most, if not all, of 2025, which opens up intrigue about where he will be bid on after a standout U18s National Championships last year was an exclamation point on a glittering career to date. The powerful left-footer has great utility value and is capable of tearing a game open.
6 - Ollie Greeves
Eastern Ranges, midfielder
The big-bodied midfielder nursed a minor ankle injury last month after some massive schoolboy performances leading the Caulfield Grammar engine room. His ability to provide overlap and impact on the spread is impressive for a player of his stature, while his inside work is also exemplary.
