AFL fans attending Gather Round in South Australia should brace for inclement weather, with plenty of rain forecast throughout the state between Thursday and Sunday.
Fremantle was dealt a setback ahead of Friday night's Gather Round clash against Collingwood at Adelaide Oval, with consistent rainfall and lightning forcing a premature end to the Dockers' training session at Sturt on Thursday morning.
With players forced indoors, Fremantle elected to use the time for a meet and greet before returning to train in persistent, heavy rain.
Adelaide Oval will host the Gather Round opener on Thursday evening, as the Crows take on the Blues. The forecast isn't pretty, with the Bureau predicting a very high chance of showers, a possible thunderstorm, and winds between 20-35 km/h.
"Whilst the opening siren might be relatively dry, we could start to see some increasing showers during the game as that cold front does approach and cross. So, could be a little bit wet and might be some moderate ... winds as well," the Bureau of Meteorology's, Ellie Mathews, said.
"We will see those temperatures start to dip down as we get into Friday with a cold front that will clip the southern [end] of the state."
Friday's forecast is marginally better, the Bureau expecting a very high chance of showers and a maximum temperature of 19 degrees, and the predicted conditions in the city for Saturday and Sunday are similar.
A chilly 15 degrees and showers is forecast for the Barossa Goldfields on Saturday for North Melbourne and Brisbane match, while there's more rain predicted in the area for Sunday's GWS-Richmond clash.
