Adelaide dashing defender Brodie Smith has called time on his AFL career after 15 seasons and 273 games.

Smith told the Crows a week after the heartbreaking semi-final loss to Hawthorn, which would be his final game in the tri-colours.

"To be in this position now, hanging up the boots after playing 273 games, it's something I'll forever be so proud of," Smith said.

"I'm incredibly grateful to have lived out my childhood dream for the past 15 seasons.

"I think the time is right to move on and see our young boys take the next step. I'm excited by the prospect of what might come next.

"To my teammates along the journey, to the fans and Members who have supported us, and to everyone involved at the Adelaide Football Club, I couldn't be more thankful."

Smith began his time at West Lakes following the 2010 National Draft when he was taken with Pick 14.

The Woodville-West Torrens product was a 2014 All-Australian member, and played in the International Rules Series the same season, while also featuring for the All Stars in 2020.

"Very few players are able to maintain such a high standard at this level for as long as Brodie has done," Crows coach Matthew Nicks said.

"The fact he was able to do so as a one-club player is even more impressive, and he's played an important role in shaping our Club's culture.

"We wish Brodie, his wife Lisa and son Luca all the best and no doubt we'll continue to see the entire Smith family around the place in the years to come."

Smith will join Matt Crouch in retiring from the Crows, while the club has also delisted Lachlan Murphy, Karl Gallagher, Harry Schoenberg and Kieran Strachan.

Fellow veteran Taylor Walker is currently weighing up his future beyond 2025.
