Adelaide will rejoice in the return of livewire Josh Rachele for Friday night's semi-final against Hawthorn at the Adelaide Oval.

Rachele hasn't played since he sustained a posterior capsular tear in his knee against Melbourne in Round 17.

"We won't be rolling the dice, the question is, is he ready to go, and yeah, he's ready to go,” Crows coach Matthew Nicks said

"Ten weeks of hard work and he should get the reward for that, we do because he's ready and he trained really well.

"He's feeling confident, and that's the main thing."

The return of Rachele will be a much-needed boost inside Adelaide's forward line, who is desperately missing Izak Rankine, who is halfway through his four-game suspension.

The former Pick 6 was in career-best form prior to his injury, kicking 25 goals from 13 outings, albeit two of those games were prematurely ended through injury.

However, the West Lakes club has ticked off all the boxes to welcome the 22-year-old back into the senior line-up ahead of a buzzing Adelaide Oval.

"Josh's weapon is his energy, and what that does to help the guys around him," Nicks said.

"That energy will be important, and his execution, it's going to be a tough ask with the speed of the game and things, being out of footy for that amount of time, it's hard to hit the ground running straight away.

"But he's done everything possible, so that he's ready to come in and help the team."

Hugh Bond and Zac Taylor are also likely candidates as the unlucky ones given Rachele's return, with the former predicted to make way.

Max Michalanney, who was used in a run-with role on Nick Daicos, could return to his original position down back to curtail the likes of Dylan Moore, Nick Watson and Jack Ginnivan.

Final teams will be released at 6:20pm (AEST) on Thursday.
