Legendary goal-kicker Eddie Betts is set to don the football field on Anzac Day for local club Fitzroy Stars in the Northern Football Netball League (NFNL).

Betts will join the Stars as they take on Old Eltham Collegians at Sir Doug Nicholls Oval, which is likely to be a one-off match, similar to his Wangaratta Rovers appearance last year.

It is understood that the Adelaide and Carlton champion registered earlier in the year with the NFNL club, and will unite with former AFL player Neville Jetta, who coaches Fitzroy, according to the Herald Sun.

The Stars have gone undefeated in their opening two matches of the 2025 season, knocking off Laurimar (24 points) and Mernda (47 points) to sit second on the ladder.

Old Eltham have had a mixed start to their 2025 campaign, recording a win against Reservoir in Round 2, but a loss against Heidelberg West.

The 38-year-old retired from football in 2021 after 350 games across Carlton and Adelaide, kicking 640 goals and many memorable ones.

Betts was a three-time All-Australian, six-time leading goal kicker and four-time Goal of the Year winner.

He also spent time at Geelong in a coaching capacity and is signed with Fox Footy as a part of their football coverage.
