Crows assistant coach Marty Mattner has departed that club with immediate effect in the midst of the AFL's suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Mattner is believed to be looking to "pursue other opportunities" and becomes the second coach to leave the club following former development mentor Paul Thomas' decision to depart last month.

โ€œMarty is a quality person who has achieved a great deal during the early years of his coaching career,โ€ Crows Head of Football Adam Kelly said in a club statement.

โ€œHe has now been an assistant coach, as well as having done a development role, at two AFL clubs and he is a two-time SANFL premiership coach.

โ€œMarty has a long association with us, starting out as a player and in recent times returning to coach our defenders, so his contribution has been significant and he will always be part of the Crows family.

Mattner was recruited into the Crows coaching structure in 2018 after leading SANFL side Sturt to two premierships.
