In just rewards for a season where he has established himself as a regular in a stacked Sydney Swans midfield, Claremont product Angus Sheldrick has committed his future to the Bloods, signing on until the end of 2027.

In 2025, Sheldrick cemented himself in first-year coach Dean Cox's lineup, after battling for senior opportunities since his 2021 drafting. 16 of his 25 career games have come this year, with 'Gus the Bus' averaging 19 disposals and four clearances per game since shedding the substitute role in Round 11.

The news pleased Swans Executive General Manager of Football, Leon Cameron, after interest came from Sheldrick's home state of Western Australia.

"Angus has had an excellent 2025 so far, so we are really hoping he continues to develop into a good AFL footballer," Cameron said.

"His form at VFL level has always been excellent, and we are now seeing him take the next step into cementing a regular spot in the senior side.

"Angus is a terrific person and a popular member of the playing group, so we are very glad he will be with the club until 2027."

Sheldrick expressed gratitude for the belief in him that a new contract represents, and spoke of the anticipation that came with news of the contract offer.

"It means a lot that the club has shown faith in me by offering me another contract – I'm incredibly grateful. When my manager came to me about a month ago and said the Swans have offered you another contract, I was keen to get it signed," he said.

Sheldrick's signature is the latest in a slew of re-signings for the Swans this year, with Chad Warner, Caiden Cleary, Riak Andrew, Sam Wicks and Tom Hanily among others to put pen to paper this season.

The Swans will look to make amends for a second-half fadeout against the Giants last time out, when they host Essendon at the SCG, this Saturday.
