Former Fremantle and West Coast key forward Hugh Dixon has stunned a home Northern Bullants crowd in the VFL on Saturday, kicking a whopping 13 goals in Southport's 103-point drubbing of the standalone club.

The 26-year-old played just one game at the Dockers in 2019 after being drafted in 2017, and was then delisted in 2020. The forward was picked up by the Eagles in the 2022 Supplemental Selection Period, however, where he would go on to play 10 games in West Coast colours that year.

After no games in 2023, Dixon was delisted again and made the move to Queensland to play for Southport.

The Tasmanian native has played in 31 games at VFL level since, and up until the latest clash against the Bullants, had kicked 61 goals at an average of just over two per game.

However, despite not kicking more than a five-goal haul previously at Southport, Dixon delivered a monumental performance, kicking 13 goals and two behinds in the Sharks' 170-point scoring effort.

Just four other players kicked multiple goals, all of which were just two, as the Sharks evidently fed the hot hand - or boot, rather - throughout their Round 10 game of the state league's season.

The win places the Sharks atop the VFL ladder for the time being with a record of seven wins, one loss and a draw, while also boasting a league-best percentage of 148.2.

The 13 goal-effort may also place Dixon in first of the goalkicking tally leaderboard in the VFL, as the performance takes his figure up to 31 for the season, four ahead of the next best after Round 9.

Mitchell Podhajski from the Coburg Lions will be level after his four-goal display against the Suns, while Williamstown's Brodie McLaughlin will also have to kick four on Sunday to retain an equal-first spot in the tally.
