The team at Zero Hanger have put together their mid-season All-Australian team for the players most deserving to be there at the moment in 2021.

Check out below to see who's made the best side for 2021 so far.

Defenders

Christian Salem

The rebounding defender not only provides run for the ladder-topping Demons, but also holds a current 25.4 disposals per game this season.

Extremely influential off the half-back line giving crucial territory. Deserving of his spot.

Steven May

A pillar in the Demon's defense this season, averaging 18.5 disposals per game and doesn't allow big bags to be kicked on him.

A big reason why the Demons have the best defense in the league at the moment.

Tom Stewart

Consistent performer in the backline for the Cats, it is exceedingly rare for Stewart to have have a poor game.

The two-time All Australian is currently averaging 24.6 disposals and is yet to have dropped below 20 disposals all season. A third All-Australian beckons for Stewart if he continues this run of form.

Daniel Rich

One of the best kicks in the game, the Western Australian is currently enjoying a great season and is averaging a career-high 26.3 disposals – 22 of which are kicks – per game.

A first All-Australian could be on the cards for the veteran half-back flanker.

Jake Lever

The best intercept defender in the game - leads the league for intercept marks with 49 for the Demons, and averages 11.1 intercept possessions, on track for the most in history.

A must-have in the All-Australian side.

Bailey Dale

A move down back has proved to be a master stroke from Luke Beveridge in unlocking this kid's potential.

The 24-year-old is averaging a career-high 24.1 disposals per game and can still move forward to kick a goal here and there for the Bulldogs.

Very deserving of a first All-Australian given his elite ball movement and use of the footy.

Centre

Hugh McCluggage

Hugh McCluggage has developed into a dynamic impact player who is so damaging both in the middle and in front of the sticks.

Currently averaging 25 disposals and just a tad under a goal a game, McCluggage has stepped up in big moments and in the absence of Lachie Neale.

Set to finally get the nod for his first All-Australian blazer.

Clayton Oliver

Arguably the best player in the league at the moment, averaging an impressive 31.6 disposals and 5.9 tackles per game.

Oliver is so consistent and impactful with the way he can win the ball inside, gain territory for his team and also hit the scoreboard. Going for his second All-Australian blazer.

Jack Macrae

The definition of ultra consistent, averaging a crazy 35.2 disposals and 4.9 tackles per game, Macrae delivers week in and week out for the Bulldogs engine room.

An absolute lock for his third All-Australian in as many years.

Forwards

Christian Petracca

Petracca is without a doubt one of the most impactful players in the competition. It’s easy to see his influence which can be expressed by his brute force in the midfield or his ability to kick goals inside 50.

Currently averaging 28.3 disposals and 1.1 goals per game. A lock for back-to-back All-Australians.

Taylor Walker

The veteran key forward for the Crows has revived himself this season, averaging a career- high 3.3 goals per game and sits second only to Harry McKay on the Coleman Medal leaderboard.

Looking for his first All-Australian blazer in his 13th season.

Toby Greene

No one is more exciting and dynamic than Toby Greene. Has stepped up to the captaincy in the absence of Stephen Coniglio and has excelled averaging 18.7 disposals and 2.4 goals per game.

Arguably the best small-forward in the game and going for his second All-Australian selection.

Tom Hawkins

A selfless key forward for the Cats, embracing a new role alongside Jeremy Cameron with his ability to get others involved with 20 score assists on the year and averaging 2.4 goals per game himself.

A fourth All-Australian could be on the cards.

Harry McKay

The current Coleman Medal leader with 38 goals through 12 games for the Blues, knows how to find the goals and would be hard to leave the big key-forward out of the All-Australian side.

Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti

The small live-wire forward for the Bombers is an excitement machine, averaging a career-high 2.3 goals per game, and impacting the game with his tackling and pressure in the forward half.

Hard to leave out and would be his first All-Australian blazer.

Followers

Max Gawn

As the premier ruckman in the competition, Gawn has enjoyed another impressive season and leads an impressive midfield unit for the Demons.

The big man is currently averaging a career-high in 18.8 disposals per game, whilst also recording a strong mean of 33.3 hit-outs per game. On track for his fifth All-Australian blazer in six years.

Darcy Parish

The talented Dons’ midfielder has taken his game to new heights in 2021, becoming both a ball-magnet and a game changer for the Bombers.

With a current average of 31.4 disposals a game, and best on grounds in the Anzac and Dreamtime games, it would be hard to leave Parish out of his first All-Australian side if it were selected today.

Marcus Bontempelli

Arguably the best player in the game, the dynamic Bulldogs' skills are sublime and he always seems to rise in the big occasions.

Currently averaging 26.9 disposals, 4.9 tackles and 1.4 goals per game, Bontempelli appears able to do it all, and is poised for his fourth All-Australian selection.

Interchange

Sam Walsh

Elevated himself into elite status just 50 games into his career. Currently averaging a career high 30.2 disposals in just his third season, Walsh has cemented himself as possibly the most important cog in Carlton‘s future successes, and is primed for his first All-Australian selection.

Ollie Wines

A bull of an inside midfielder for Port Adelaide that consistently wins it at the source and is a big reason as to why Port are such a strong clearance team.

Averaging an impressive 31.1 disposals per game along with 4.4 tackles, the Victorian has proven why he is such a consistent and high quality midfielder, and could obtain his first All-Australian blazer come season's end if he continues his strong form.

Harris Andrews

One of the best key defenders in the game, locks down the best key forward from the opposition whilst averaging 15.8 disposals in the process.

Would be competing against Steven May, Darcy Moore and Jacob Weitering for the full-back position in the All-Australian side, and if successful, would be his third All-Australian selection in as many years.

Jarryd Lyons

Lyons is an ultra consistent performer in the Lions’ engine room, and has stepped up big time in Lachie Neale‘s absence.

The midfielder is currently averaging a career high 27.7 disposals per game, with his scintillating form providing a big reason why Brisbane are one of the in-form teams in the competition, and could earn him his first All-Australian blazer.
