CONFIRMED: GWS midfielder Paul Ahern joins Kangaroos

North Melbourne has signed Greater Western Sydney midfielder Paul Ahern.

The 20-year-old, who was selected with pick No.7 in the 2014 National Draft, joins the Roos in exchange for pick 69.

However, he will miss the entire 2017 season, after suffering an ACL injury in September.

He also missed the 2016 season, after sustaining an ACL injury in April this year.

Despite the horrid run with injuries this year, Ahern’s ability is highly rated, impressing in his debut season at the Giants, averaging 23 disposals, five clearances and five inside 50s in 16 games in the NEAFL.

GWS currently hold picks 2, 15, 31, 37, 51, 55, 60, 69 and 109 in this year’s draft.

  1. The big problem is will Goldstein wells Harvey all gone we gonna need outside speed north should look at Cameron yolum Ellis from crows and I’ll reckon matherw Lobb from the power

    • Finally someone with some sense …
I’ve said cam Ernest Yolman can be an absolute Gun if given more opportunity and still in the age bracket …
north should be chasing him aswell as Jarryd Lyons
Lobbe would be a good back up to goldy if Goldstein stays , doesn’t bother me if he leaves either , get a top 10 pick for him while he has currency .

  2. So this nobody who will be out for all of 2017 due to a knee-reco is worth pick 69 and Sam Mitchell is worth pick 88. I understand Hawthorn only did what they did to free up the salary cap but the compensation is still a joke.
