Collingwood Football Club board statement

The Collingwood Football Club has released the following statement on behalf of the board:

The board of the Collingwood Football Club met today.

The board accepted Eddie McGuire’s unreserved apology for inappropriate on-air comments he made last week. It also expressed its complete and ongoing support for his position as president.

The board and the club take the matters raised by these comments seriously.

The Collingwood Football Club respects its values and its position in the football and broader communities.

  2. Shouldn’t have needed to apologise for a start, I have absolutely no doubt that if Caroline Wilson was in a room and someone was actually threatening her, each of those men would have defended her to the death, they are good men who would not deliberately hurt anyone.
    There was no actual INTENT to harm anyone IN THEIR COMMENTS AND THAT IS THE CONTEXT IN WHICH THERE COMMENTS SHOULD BE TAKEN.
    Shame on Wilson for not defusing the whole situation, everything she writes has CONTEXT attached to it and is judged by it why is this any different.
