Melbourne youngster Liam Hulett has suffered what appears to be a serious ankle injury at training on Friday.

Hulett, the No.46 pick in the 2015 National Draft, was helped from the field after going down while involved in match simulation at Gosch's Paddock.

He was unable to put weight on his left foot and was taken off on a cart.

The 19-year-old is set to undergo scans to determine the severity of the injury.

He played 18 matches matches for the Casey Scorpions in 2016.
