SEN's Gerard Whateley has lifted the lid on the details surrounding the mutual split between North Melbourne and coach Brad Scott.
Multiple sources reported on Friday that Scott would coach his final game for the club in their clash with the Western Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon.
And according to Whateley, the stories that were being published accelerated Scott's dismissal.
“When North Melbourne players left Arden Street late on Friday afternoon, there was no reason to think anything was at play other than this fixture against the Bulldogs,” he told SEN’s Crunch Time.
“The Kangaroos and Brad Scott in the next hour will reconvene for the last time.
“It is a matter of fact that Brad Scott will coach this afternoon and hold a press conference tomorrow, ending a decade long tenure at North Melbourne.
“I think the timeline was probably set for a couple of week’s time, I think it would’ve happened before the bye, and then Robbo (Mark Robinson’s) piece lands at 5pm last night.
“From what I can glean, Brad Scott’s manager didn’t know that that story was about to land. I’m not sure the family knew, the players certainly didn’t know, it was business as usual, that all blew up at 5pm.
“It’s been a pretty frantic period as players are trying to make sense of it.”
