Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir says he isn't stressed about who the club will host in the elimination final next week.

The Dockers will need to wait for confirmation of their opponent, which will follow the rare Wednesday night encounter between Gold Coast and Essendon. The clash was postponed due to the early-season cyclone.

If the Suns win by more than five goals, they will face the Dockers. If they win by less than five goals, Hawthorn will travel to Perth.

The Western Australian club secured a home final after an inspired victory in the do-or-die clash against the Western Bulldogs.

However, in preparation for its first finals series since 2022, Longmuir said the club's focus remains squarely on itself, rather than on the opponent.

"We haven't really thought about it too much," Longmuir said.

"What will be, will be with the opponent.

"We'll just watch it normally at home, we're not barracking for anyone. If it's Gold Coast, it's Gold Coast. If it's Hawthorn, it's Hawthorn.

"This week is about making our footy better, working on a few things in our game, and then whoever we play, we'll focus on next week."

The Dockers can take incredible confidence against both the Suns and the Hawks after defeating both throughout 2025.

A significant part of that preparation is ramping up star Hayden Young's training loads ahead of the elimination final throughout the pre-finals bye.

Longmuir said he'd prefer that break to be before the grand final, but made no secret that in this instance, his side will benefit from the extra days off.

Young, whose season has been marred by soft-tissue injuries, returned for the Bulldogs clash in the starting 22, but played limited minutes, and was capped at 65 per cent.

"The medicos and fitness guys handled his game time really well … and I thought he had a big impact on the game," Longmuir said.

"He's been disappointed when he's had those repeat injuries, but he just got back to work and worked his backside off. That allows him to come in and have a big game against a really good midfield.

"It's a bit of a build for him, and that's probably the bonus of the two weeks. It benefits some, and Youngy is one of those.

"He'll do a big session on Friday, which will set him up for a good week next week."

It is expected that Fremantle will play its elimination final on Saturday.
