A West Coast defender has made a move as the 2025 class of debutants nears the home stretch of the season.

A young Bomber was lucky to hold onto his spot as a pair of Tigers are nipping at his heels, while a Docker could press his claims for the top position after another outstanding performance.

1Levi Ashcroft (-)

The Brisbane son-of-a-gun has inched closer to claiming the Rookie of the Year title, but he does have some competition nipping at his heels.

Ashcroft wasn't at his usual best during the heavy loss to Gold Coast (based on the lofty standards he's set), gathering 15 touches and two clearances in the defeat.

His disposal was still at a high level, while he got involved in two scores, also driving the ball inside 50 three times.

But his body of work throughout 2025 still places him atop the chasers, and will set himself up for a response game against ladder leaders Collingwood on Saturday night at the MCG.
