Collingwood midfielder Daniel Wells' day is over, with the veteran succumbing to a calf injury during the third quarter of the Pies' clash with Fremantle at Domain Stadium.

Wells missed the opening four rounds of the season due to the same injury and has played five of the past six games since returning.

Wells appeared to pull up after taking off to chase a Dockers' player after a kick-in.

He went straight to the bench, before having ice strapped to his calf.

Wells missed the opening four games of the season due to the same injury.

He returned in Round five against Essendon, collecting 24 disposals in the side's loss on ANZAC Day. He then recorded 22 touches in Pies' upset win over Geelong in six, before being rested in Round seven.

He has played the past four matches and collected six disposals against the Dockers being being injured.
