Adelaide Crows wingman Paul Seedsman is recovering nicely from a December head-knock, according to senior coach Matthew Nicks.

The 30-year-old suffered the ailment during a marking contest and is currently coping with ongoing concussion symptoms.

Nicks told Adelaide's official website that while the club was pleased with Seedsman's progress, they are in no rush to have him back on the field.

"The trend is upwards, he's trending well, but we are in no rush at all," Nicks said.

"Paul knows that as well and he is of the same thought process.

"We're not going to take any risks … it's a delicate space because we're learning a lot about concussion and Paul took quite a knock.

"We're still consulting [and] our guys do a lot of work around the [concussion] area and consult a lot of experts.

"We hope to see Paul back as soon as possible."

Seedsman continued to report symptoms after Christmas and is still not able to take part in contact training, remaining without a timetable for return.

"He'll take three or four steps forward and then he'll take one step back where he maybe just pushed it too hard in a session, or he reached a threshold where he just needs to calm things down for 24 hours before he bounces back again," Nicks added.

"What we see is three days where we think, 'Wow, he's a chance to really get back into full training before we know it', and then we'll just have a little setback."

Seedsman, who played in all 22 games last year for the first time in his career, averaged career-highs in disposals (26.1), marks (5.4), inside-50s (5.7), clearances (2.0) and rebound 50s (2.8) per game.

The Victorian, who comes out of contract at the end of the 2023 season, finished third in the Crows' best and fairest last season, playing a crucial role rebounding from defensive 50 and kick-starting attacking chains.
