Could the Sydney ruckman cop a suspension?

Sydney ruckman Peter Ladhams could face scrutiny from the Match Review Officer after a cheap hit on Port Adelaide star Ollie Wines.

As the Swans trailed by five goals midway through the third term of the match, a scrappy contest from a centre bounce soon led to Wines collecting the Sherrin before immediately being tackled to the ground by Ladhams and Swan Luke Parker.

Wines was able to dispose of the ball and kickstart a pathway into forward 50 for his side, but while laying on the ground was met by a cruel blow from his ex-teammate, with Ladhams swinging his right arm into Wines' ribs.

Playing against his former club for the first time since swapping Alberton for Moore Park, Ladhams' actions proved costly for the Bloods as the incident resulted in a down-field free kick and goal for Port Adelaide.

The punch could see Ladhams miss next week's contest with St Kilda, with the MRO likely to assess the 24-year-old's actions.

Should the punch be deemed intentional conduct, medium impact and body contact, the MRO will hand Ladhams a one-week suspension.

Should the level of impact be deemed 'low', Ladhams can escape with a fine.

Irrespective of the MRO's verdict, Swans coach John Longmire could rule Ladhams out of his Round 15 calculations altogether, having dragged his ruckman for multiple brain fades during a critical period of Saturday's match.
