Oscar McInerney's elimination final outing has come to an early close after the 30-year-old Lion launched into the back of Richmond utility Jack Ross.

With less than two minutes off the clock in the 'do or die' date at the Gabba, McInerney was helped from the deck with blood coursing from his nose.

The ruckman-cum-resting forward was subbed out for the alternative skillset of Callum Ah Chee, with the 24-year-old turning 'super sub' almost immediately, with a pair of shots at goal and 1.1 on the board.

At the other end of the ground, returning Tiger Dustin Martin matched Ah Chee's output, proving able to switch on after a day spent mired in controversy.

In the shadows of quarter-time, the travelling Tigers lead the Lions by six points, an advantage built off the back of a sextet of intercept marks before the break.
