Essendon forward Orazio Fantasia has injured his hamstring and will not return to the field against Carlton on Saturday afternoon.
Fantasia pulled up sore with the hamstring injury in the opening quarter, and limped to the bench after running with the ball through the middle of the ground.
Following the incident, Fantasia headed straight for the bench and was seen just minutes later with a jacket on and ice on his hamstring.
Should the injury be a regular hamstring tear, Fantasia could miss the remainder of the home-and-away season, given there are only three rounds remaining.
Essendon lead Carlton 35-13 at quarter time.
