Melbourne has joined the race for former Sun and Docker Harley Bennell, according to The Herald Sun.
The report states that the Demons will put him through a medical test tonight as they consider throwing a lifeline to the injury-prone midfielder.
The 27-year old is in Melbourne this week looking into his options, with Melbourne believed to be one of six clubs interested in recruiting him.
Sydney and Geelong are the other clubs who are understood to have interest in Bennell.
He has undergone to rounds of surgery after being delisted by Fremantle following a consultation with Geelong-based "calf guru" Peter Stanton.
The former No. 2 pick has played just two games in the last four years, but now appears likely to get another chance at AFL level.
Clubs could pick him up via the rookie draft or through the new pre-season supplementary list.
