Victoria and the All Stars have named their captains for this year's EJ Whitten Legends game.

As was the case last year, the match will take place on the Friday night of the Bye round between the final week of the season and the first week of the finals series.

Three-time Brisbane Lions premiership player Jonathan Brown will captain the Victorian side, while former Western Bulldogs ruckman Luke Darcy will captain the All Stars.

โ€œThe Chemist Warehouse EJ Whitten Legends Game is a great opportunity for some of footyโ€™s greats to come together and support the EJ Whitten Foundation,โ€ Darcy said.

โ€œThe All Stars team is looking strong this year; we have pulled together some of the best retired players from around the country.

โ€œI donโ€™t want to reveal too much yet but it is safe to say some of the biggest names in AFL are on our list and weโ€™re ready to take on Brownyโ€™s Vics.โ€

Of the 21 matches played, the two sides have both won 10 games, while there has been one draw.

Last year's match was tied at 135 a piece, before Victoria won in a goal kickoff.
