Fremantle senior coach Justin Longmuir has penned a new two-year contract extension that has secured his services to the club until the end of the 2024 season.

Longmuir has shown plenty of promise from the Dockers' hot-seat, having led the youthful side to a respectable record across his two seasons at the helm.

Fremantle have won 17 of their 39 matches under the tutelage of Longmuir, who inherited the side amid a list rebuild.

The Dockers amassed an 11th-place finish to the 2021 season, despite having one of the youngest and least experienced lists in the competition.

Longmuir expressed his joy in being able to extend his tenure at Cockburn for a further two seasons.

“I’m very humbled and very grateful for this opportunity,” he said on the announcement,

“This contract extension doesn’t really change my approach, it’s just nice to know that board and management are happy with the work I’m doing so far.

“This isn’t my Club, it’s everyone’s Club and I’ve got to do the right thing by Fremantle and everyone who supports us. As senior coach, that is my aim and I’ll continue to do that.

“Our responsibility is to make sure we set up an environment where all of our players can be their best selves and reach their potential.

“If we can do that, things do look very exciting, but there’s a lot of work that has to go into achieving our goals. We have to keep doing the work.

“I’m pleased with where we are at but not satisfied at all. We have to keep growing our culture and a lot of work to do with the way we play - every individual has a say in that.”

Longmuir played 139 games in purple between 1999-2007, booting 166 goals and claiming a place in Fremantle's 25 since '95 side.

The Dockers will be eyeing a finals berth in 2022, having seen strong improvement across the past two years.

Longmuir's side finished just four points out of the top-eight this season, recording 10 wins and 12 losses for their efforts.
