Good news footy fans! Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has announced some restrictions will be lifted from Wednesday morning.

These include Victorian clubs being permitted to train in groups of 10, joining the other states in being allowed to do so.

It paves the way for the AFL to move towards with its return plans, with mid June the current target date.

Andrews adress the media on Monday morning.

โ€œProfessional sport, after all it is a workplace, thereโ€™s been a lot of work between the AFL and the public health team and we have agreed to a set of arrangements that will allow training for AFL, for rugby league, for other professional sports to resume just before midnight tomorrow night,โ€ Andrews said.

โ€œOf course with that happening, once training is up and running again, that paves the way for the AFL and other codes to make announcements.

โ€œTraining resuming paves the way for footy to be back and I think we all want that provided its safe, appropriate and can be done in a cautious way and Iโ€™m confident that it can be.โ€

The league is expected to announce its return plans later this week.
