'Razor' Ray Chamberlain has been named to umpire his first AFL grand final since 2010, alongside experienced duo Matt Stevic and Shaun Ryan.
An announcement came out AFL House on Tuesday morning (AEST) at a press conference, with Chamberlain humbled by the honour.
“We’ve had, particularly over the last 10 years that I’ve been involved in September, we’ve had unbelievable umpires … really high-level operators,” he told reporters.
“It’s difficult to get appointed to one … I’m just looking forward to doing my part and being part of a really good team on the weekend.”
A year after missing out on the 2018 decider, the theatrical Chamberlain gets the nod for this Saturday's clash between Richmond and GWS, which will mark his second time officiating the big dance.
Both Stevic and Ryan officiated the 2018 Grand Final.
Stevic will umpire his seventh grand final in eight seasons, while it marks Ryan's eighth time on the big stage.
“It’s a wonderful privilege (to umpire a Grand Final),” Stevic said.
“You’re grateful for every time you get out onto the G or anywhere around Australia … with the amazing talent in our game, being able to be in the box seat is just such a special opportunity.
“We’re in a really unique spot and we love what we do and Saturday will be no different.”
Umpire Simon Meredith is expected to be named as emergency.
The AFL has traditionally chosen a set of umpires from one of the preliminary finals, but have changed that method this year.
Ryan and Chamberlain umpired the Richmond-Geelong prelim, while Stevic officiated the Magpies-Giants clash.
The trio officiated the semi final clash between GWS and Brisbane together a fortnight ago.
