Port Adelaide stars Charlie Dixon and Orazio Fantasia have had their pre-seasons put on hold as they try to overcome injuries suffered over summer.

Dixon, Port's leading goalkicker in 2021, tore ligaments in his left ankle during a training incident last week. The 31-year-old landed awkwardly during a marking contest with a teammate and remains in a moon boot as the club assesses the best option going forward.

Meanwhile Fantasia, who underwent surgery on his left knee following the 2021 season, will also consult surgeons during the week relating to ongoing issues with his right knee.

Fantasia was one of eight Port players to have surgery following the club's preliminary final loss to the Bulldogs, with all eight expected at the time to have full pre-seasons following the procedures. The club has not revealed when Dixon or Fantasia are expected to return to full training.
