AFL chief Gillon McLachlan says a twilight grand final in inevitable.
While McLachlan said the timing of next season's grand final is yet to be confirmed, he admitted it is unlikely that it will remain at its current 2.30pm time slot for long.
"More and more people think it's a chance to enhance the event," McLachlan said on radio station Triple M on Friday.
"You're not pushing it back late at night. Kids could still go to a twilight game. It would be a bigger, bolder experience and clearly it would have an impact on television."
However, McLachlan stopped short of saying when the change will occur.
"If you took a long-term view, it's inevitable, but it's a question of when and it's to do with the composition of the commission, the presidents and others in the industry who have their views."
