Former Geelong and GWS forward, Steve 'Stevie J' Johnson has joined Triple M's commentary team ahead of Round 1 of the 2023 AFL Season, which will commence next Thursday, March 16.

Johnson was taken at Pick No.24 in the 2001 AFL Draft, playing 253 games at Geelong and another 40 at GWS, going on to be an assistant coach at both Sydney and GWS after his retirement.

Alongside his commentary duties, Johnson will also be coaching the Yarrawonga Pigeons in the Ovens and Murray Football League for the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

The three-time premiership player will line up alongside other legends of the game such as Dale Thomas, Billy Brownless, Brian Taylor, Jason Dunstall and former AFLW star, Abbey Holmes.

"I'm sure Stevie will bring as much excitement to the calls as he did to the Geelong forward line during their golden run," said Triple M's Head of Sports Content- On-Air and On Demand, Ewan Giles.

Footy fans can listen to Triple M commentary across the entire 2023 AFL season on both Triple M and LISTNR, being the number one footy broadcast, with over 626,000 weekly listeners.
