Sydney have announced new deals for a trio of players, with forward-turned-defender Sam Wicks penning a fresh extension alongside first-round draft selections Ned Bowman and Jesse Dattoli.
Wicks' new deal will take him through to the end of the 2028 season, with the Swans utility set to come off-contract this year prior to penning the three-year contract.
The 25-year-old has enjoyed a new role under first-year coach Dean Cox this season, switching to the backline as a lockdown defender who can offer some spread.
Wicks has played eight games under Cox in 2025, bringing his career tally to 74 after starting his career in attack.
Speaking on his decision to re-sign, Wicks said he was excited by the future of the New South Wales side.
โYou look at the direction the club is going, we've got a group of really young and exciting players and a new Head Coach in Coxy, so I think there's some really great times ahead,โ Wicks said in a club statement.
โIt was a bit of a no brainer to stay in Sydney, I've got all my friends and family here, as well as great people here at the Swans, so it was an easy decision.โ
The Swans have also secured one-year extensions for their pair of 2024 first-round selections in Dattoli and Bowman, who were taken with Picks 22 and 26 respectively.
Neither rookie has debuted in their maiden campaign in the red and white, with Dattoli rehabbing from a back injury from the pre-season, while Bowman has shown promise in six VFL games for the Swans.
โIt's very pleasing both Ned and Jesse have extended their contracts after only a short time in our program,โ Swans football boss Leon Cameron said.
โNed has performed strongly in the VFL, while Jesse's attitude towards his rehab and willingness to put in the hard work has been fantastic.
โThey have each made strong starts to their time here and we all look forward to watching them continue to develop over the coming years.โ
The trio of new contracts add to the retentions of Braeden Campbell (2028), Will Green (2027), Lewis Melican (2027) and Chad Warner (2027) in 2025.
