The 2024 trade and draft windows formed a busy off-season for many AFL clubs.
Whether it was a big-name free agent on the move, a highly touted youngster capable of creating immediate impact, a steal late on draft night, or a low-cost trade filling a list need, each club found a player that helped shape their 2025 season.
This isn't a ranking of your club's best-performed recruit, but instead a player that outperformed what your club paid to get them - a player who addressed a list need, had an impact and played an important role in your team's system. Here's one recruit each AFL club nailed.
GWS
Jake Stringer
Stringer arrived at GWS late in the 2024 Trade Period in exchange for Pick 53. Although at times facing injury concerns, when Stringer was fit he loomed as a genuine game changer for the Giants.
Across a five-game stretch in the back half of the year, Stringer kicked 14 goals to prove his best is still devastating at the top level.
Brought into the club for that later selection, the Giants would be happy with what Stringer produced in his first season at the club. Barring injury, Stringer could prove a crucial part of the Giants' 2026 premiership aspirations.
Other recruits: Cody Angove, Josaia Delana, Oliver Hannaford, Harrison Oliver, Jack Ough, Logan Smith
