The 2024 trade and draft windows formed a busy off-season for many AFL clubs.
Whether it was a big-name free agent on the move, a highly touted youngster capable of creating immediate impact, a steal late on draft night, or a low-cost trade filling a list need, each club found a player that helped shape their 2025 season.
This isn't a ranking of your club's best-performed recruit, but instead a player that outperformed what your club paid to get them - a player who addressed a list need, had an impact and played an important role in your team's system. Here's one recruit each AFL club nailed.
North Melbourne
Luke Parker
After falling out of favour at times under John Longmire at the Swans, Parker made his way to Arden Street alongside Jacob Konstanty for Pick 44.
2024 was an up-and-down year for Parker, battling form and injury issues. He was deployed in a number of different roles by Longmire after playing primarily as a midfielder for the majority of his career.
North Melbourne coach Alastair Clarkson returned Parker to his familiar midfield role. He attended 63.3% of centre bounces after just 33.5% in 2024 at the Swans. The move paid dividends for North Melbourne, with Parker averaging 23.3 disposals, 10.7 contested possessions and five clearances.
The experienced midfielder, who finished fourth in the Roos' best and fairest, will be important in guiding the Roos' young midfield talent.
Other recruits: Caleb Daniel, Jack Darling, Jacob Konstanty, Finn O'Sullivan, River Stevens, Luke Urquhart, Matt Whitlock.
