Collingwood legend Tony Shaw has given his thoughts on what the AFL should do for Grand Final day entertainment this year.
Speaking on Macquarie Sports Radio, Shaw said the AFL should "celebrate people who have passed away during the year, as in singers."
"We've got Aretha Franklin who just passed away, now what we do, we show a picture of Aretha up on the scoreboard, but then on one part of the ground, we have a group of entertainers singing a song that Aretha made great," Shaw suggested.
Co-host Matt Thompson shot down the idea, saying the idea was "grim."
Guest Jarrad Waite also was not a fan of the idea, the retiring player saying "everyone will be in tears right before the game starts."
Shaw was steadfast in his thoughts, offering up another odd example.
"Say if John Farnham passed away 20 years down the track.. put Johnny Farnham up on the screen and then we just play one of his songs."
Waite added "it's a great idea Shawy but maybe not for Grand Final day."
The AFL is expected to announce this year's Grand Final entertainment during this week.
